Who we are

Class360 is run by [Company legal name] ([Registered address], company number [Company number]). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions or requests: [privacy@your-domain].

Tutors use Class360 to teach their own students. For the classes a tutor runs (who is in them, files, recordings), the tutor decides how that information is used, and we look after it for them.

What we collect

  • Your account: name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable), time zone, profile photo if you add one, and that you confirmed your age.
  • Classes: the classes you teach or join, join requests, invitations, planned class times and your reminder choices.
  • Live classes: when you joined and left (attendance). Video, audio and chat pass through our video provider to the other people in the class and are not stored, unless the teacher records the class.
  • Recordings: when a teacher records, the recording contains the teacher, the whiteboard, shared screens and everyone’s voices. Students’ cameras are never recorded. You see a red Recording sign while it is on.
  • Things you share: whiteboards, files, announcements and your watch position in recordings.
  • Notifications: what we told you in the app, and, if you turn on notifications for a device, that device’s notification address.
  • Technical data: your IP address (to keep accounts safe and limit abuse), and error reports that contain no names or emails.

We only use cookies to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t sell your data.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To provide Class360: accounts, classes, live lessons, recordings, files, reminders. (Necessary for our contract with you.)
  • To keep it safe and working: preventing abuse, fixing errors, keeping a record of who shared or deleted what. (Our legitimate interests.)
  • To send emails you need, such as sign-in, reminders and changes to your classes. You can turn class reminder emails off for each class.
  • Browser and phone notifications, only if you turn them on. (Your consent.)

Who can see what

  • Teachers see their students’ names, emails, attendance and join requests for their own classes.
  • Students see their teacher, their classmates’ names in live classes, and what the teacher shares. Recordings are only visible to students after the teacher shares them.
  • Companies that run parts of Class360 for us (processors), under contract: video (LiveKit), file and recording storage (Cloudflare), email (Resend), hosting, error reports (Sentry, if enabled), and Google if you sign in with Google. Some are outside the UK; where they are, we use the legal safeguards the law requires (such as standard contractual clauses).

How long we keep it

  • Your account: until you delete it.
  • Recordings and files: until the teacher deletes them (or the class’s account goes).
  • Chat in live classes: not kept at all.
  • Notifications: while your account exists.
  • When you delete your account, there is a 7-day window to change your mind. After that your data and, for teachers, your classes, files and recordings are deleted. Backups roll over within 30 days.
  • A short record of sensitive actions (such as deletions) is kept for security and disputes.

Children

Students must be 13 or older, or have a parent’s or guardian’s agreement to use Class360. We ask everyone to confirm this when they sign up. Parents can contact us at [privacy@your-domain] about their child’s data.

Your rights

You can:

  • get a copy of your data: Settings → Account → Download my data;
  • delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete account;
  • correct your details in your profile;
  • object to or ask us to limit how we use your data, by emailing [privacy@your-domain].

For data in a tutor’s classes (for example a recording), we may pass your request to the tutor, who decides. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Security

Connections are encrypted, files and recordings are private and only reachable through short-lived links, and every request is checked against who is allowed to see what.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email. See also our terms of use.
